Onward to Provence

These days were not particularly noteworthy as we spent no more than one night in each spot.  So I will summarize as follows:

We hit 4 countries in one day: breakfast in Holland, morning coffee in Belgium, lunch in Luxembourg and dinner in France; It was, in fact, only possible to know which country we were in by the language of the traffic signs, so similar are they in that little corner;

Luxembourg City was a HUGE disappointment – we expected a beautiful city with a great castle and instead got a city completely clogged with traffic construction and considerably shady characters (realized belatedly we were thinking of “Liechtenstein”…);

Rained so hard on one day that at times we had absolutely no visibility and had to pull over until the rain lessoned (as did all the cars, but at least they were dry!);

Stayed one night in a campground near Langres France: a lovely little 2 bedroom cabin in the midst of farmers fields (we set out for an evening walk of 2 kilometres, took a wrong turn in the woods and after 8 kilometres, had to cut across the hay fields using GPS to find our way back).

Only the thought of seeing Don and Deborah in their 13-century home in Taillades, near Avignon, kept us going!

Fun Facts

The Europeans really pay attention to non-alcoholic beer options for their customers. In Canada you would be lucky to find 1-2 options, but In the grocery stores here there will be 5-8 different beer options and 3-4 radler or cider options. In Germany you can even order non-alcoholic beer on tap and they release both alcoholic and non-acholic wheat beer each spring. Bonus!!
